About My Blog
First things first.. What is a Blog? Blog is short for Web Log, and is a personal electronic diary for sharing one's opinion about any specific topic of interest. Blogs have become a very popular phenomenon on the Web. They represent a progressive democratization of the traditional publishing process, where persons outside the mainstream media have the ability to publish their ideas, thoughts and opinions and make it accessible, at least in theory, to the entire Internet-connected world. Blogging also makes it easy for non-technical web users (like I'm becoming) to publish on impulse, without having to be an HTML guru or master some obscure technical language..
Unlike the typical Corporate setting where one is more often than not, consumed with addressing the immediate issue of the day, Academia gives rise to many more occasions for reflection and cognitive exploration.. My favorite literary expression is - "Cogito Ergo Sum" - "I think, therefore I am". The famous French philosopher Rene Descartes in questioning the nature of reality and human existence comes to the conclusion that the first indisputable truth of one's existence is the ability to think.
Since I now have more opportunity to think about stuff, I thought it might be interesting to share some of these thoughts with others.. Actually for some persons, writing thoughts down is an easier form of communication than physical conversation. Nevertheless, some of what I write in this Blog will be deliberate, aimed at informing or educating about some aspect of the CoE's business or technology relevant to our business. However some of it will be random thoughts or personal opinions about other stuff, that I feel like sharing and invite you to comment, challenge or engage me in any of these opinions (could be anything ranging from Philosophy, to Business to Sports or Religion).
How frequently will I update this blog? Don't know yet.. it might be weekly or monthly, or perhaps never.. That's the beauty of Blogging, setting your own editorial policy and rules. In any event updates will most definitely be on impulse, so if there is something significant happening with the CoE or within our domains of interest, especially as it relates to Open Source Technology, then I'll blog about it.
Feel free to comment or express an opinion about anything I write in this blog... look forward to sharing with you.
